.....worshiping the sand dunes...
. . .pulicate lake..Tamilnadu side..an inspiring action on shore, the local fisher communities have their gods home on the sand dunes.. they believe that their God safeguards the entire community and protects them from the sea and evil. Annually they have a festival .. celebrating their god.. teracotta motiffs are made and placed on the dunes and worshipped.. the dunes are considered sacred.. myths and beliefs are strong among the community, which is conserving the resource of the coast.. sand dunes

guarding nallavadu .......
Nallavadu, a small coastal village on the shores of pondicherry. A small patch of degraded sacred grove still survives with the intervention of community participation. Tropical Dry Evergreen Forest species are planted by the communities and are maintained, enriching the coastal biodiversity. Palm trees and the terracota motiffs are guarding the fisherfolks . . .

Tribals for tiger

... A ritual of the Irulas of the Moyar valley, symbolising the spiritual attachment with the Tiger. There are many traditional belief among the irulas that the tigers are safeguarding their community. Also tiger symbolizes their God Banttan. The making of the tiger from wood is a great ritual. Only selected... members of the community, who undergo a set of rituals are allowed to carry the tiger along with their God. The dance Puliattam is a great feast of the eyes with mesmerising music from our Irula friends....
